Il Tour Des Trees e il più grande tour annuale di ciclismo cross country negli Stati Uniti per la raccolta di fondi. Questo tour copre mediamente 650-1000 km in 6-7 giorni.
Ciò che accomuna i ciclisti che partecipano al tour è la ricerca dell’avventura, amicizia e passione per l’ambiente. Fin dal suo inizio, nel 1992, il Tour Des Trees ha raccolto più di 4,4 milioni di dollari per svariati progetti di studio diventando la più grande raccolta di fondi non governativa per la ricerca e l’istruzione sugli alberi in America.
Il Tour Des Trees 2010 partirà dal bellissimo “Millenium Park” di Chicago il 18 luglio , viaggiando verso ovest sul fiume Mississipi prima di ritornare a Chicago.
Il tour 2010 si concluderà con la “corsa per la ricerca” (50 km circa) verso la periferia ovest di Chicago con una grande entrata nel “Morton Arboretum” durante i campionati internazionali di Tree Climbing (arrampicata su alberi) dell’International Society of arboriculture il 24/07.
The Tour des Trees is the America’s largest annual fundraising cross-country cycling tour averaging 400-600 miles in 6-7 days. The Tour cyclists are vary widely in age, experience and professional background. What brings them together is a quest for adventure, camaraderie and a passion for the environment. Since its inception in 1992, the Tour des Trees has generated more than $4.4 million for a variety of research projects and has evolved into the largest non-governmental source of funding for tree research and education in America. The 2010 Tour des Trees will launch from Chicago's beautiful Millennium Park on July 18, and travel westward to the Mississippi River before looping back toward the Chicago area. The 2010 Tour concludes with a 30-mile "Ride for Research" through Chicago's western suburbs and a grand entrance into the Morton Arboretum during the International Society of Arboriculture’s International Tree Climbing Championship on July 24.
